meridian: Connect Coding Clients to Claude and Antigravity

Meridian is a local API bridge for using Claude and Antigravity subscriptions with coding clients such as Pi and OpenCode. It also provides usage monitoring and an optional Mac app, with Antigravity currently marked as a preview.

Our take

Activeregular commits and releases
  • Releases more often than 93% of the projects we track
  • Closes issues faster than 83% of the projects we track
  • Merges more pull requests than 78% of the projects we track

Meridian is an actively maintained, multi-contributor bridge with useful client and monitoring support, but Antigravity remains a preview and inherits the limits of its CLI backend.

Good fit if

  • You use Pi, OpenCode or another supported client and want access to Claude through a local API.
  • You want a dashboard or optional Mac app alongside a headless service, and can run Node.js 22 or later.
  • You want to experiment with Antigravity on the documented setup and accept its preview limitations.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need Antigravity verified on Linux or Windows, or require unfinished capabilities such as active-task reattachment.
  • You need exact output-token caps, numeric thinking budgets, sampling controls or every native media and reasoning feature.
  • You need a provider integration that does not depend on an installed, signed-in CLI or its upstream behavior.

Overview

Meridian lets supported coding clients send requests to Claude or Antigravity through a local API, using the account and subscription you have already signed in with. Claude runs through Anthropic’s Agent SDK; Antigravity uses Google’s official agy CLI. It is designed for people who want to use these providers from clients that do not connect to them directly.

The service also offers a browser dashboard for provider status, usage and request activity, plus an optional macOS app for managing the local service. Claude is the released backend. Antigravity is a preview, with documented platform and feature limitations.

Key Features

  • Local API compatibility for Anthropic Messages, OpenAI Chat Completions and a documented subset of the Responses API.
  • Connects clients including Pi and OpenCode to Claude and Antigravity using their respective signed-in provider paths.
  • Claude support includes persistent sessions, prompt caching and multiple account profiles.
  • Antigravity preview supports streaming, client-executed tools, conversation reuse and limited saved-answer recovery.
  • Dashboard for provider status, quota windows, request history and usage activity.
  • Optional Mac app for managing the service, versions, plugins and diagnostics.
  • Deployment options include headless use, Docker and Nix.

Use Cases

  • A Pi or OpenCode user wants to route coding requests through an existing Claude subscription rather than configure a separate provider integration.
  • A developer wants to try Antigravity from a supported coding client, and is comfortable with its preview status and current platform verification limits.
  • A team running a local coding service wants a browser dashboard to inspect provider status and recent request activity.
  • A macOS user wants a desktop interface for managing Meridian’s local service while keeping it separate from the coding client.

What you need

Detected in the repository

  • Node.js >=22 (from package.json)
  • A Dockerfile, so it can run in a container; a Compose file sets up the related services
  • Automated checks on GitHub Actions

Getting Started

Install Node.js 22 or later, sign in to Claude, then install and run Meridian:

npm install -g @rynfar/meridian
claude login
meridian

Open http://127.0.0.1:3456. See the README for client setup, configuration and Antigravity preview instructions.

Alternatives

  • OmniRoute: OmniRoute provides a configurable gateway for many model providers, while Meridian bridges Claude and Antigravity subscriptions to coding clients.

Considerations

  • Antigravity is a preview, not a parity guarantee. The documented authenticated acceptance setup is macOS on Apple Silicon; Linux and Windows verification is unfinished.
  • The Antigravity tool bridge allows the client to execute tools with its own permissions. Native browser or subagent access requires separate explicit grants.
  • The README identifies unfinished active-task reattachment and automatic reconciliation of uncertain tool outcomes. Some provider-specific plugins, hosted-tool contracts and client versions still need adapters or acceptance tests.
  • Meridian cannot provide controls or native capabilities that the upstream CLI does not expose. Upstream CLI failures can interrupt a turn, and saved state does not guarantee recovery of an unfinished action.
  • The project is active, with regular commits and releases and contributions from dozens of people; contribution is not concentrated in one person. Recent issue and pull-request handling is reported, though the measured closure and merge counts are capped lower bounds.
  • The README states that Meridian is MIT licensed. Review the repository’s license and any applicable provider terms before adopting it.
