MyDevTools is an unusually broad local-first toolkit with recent development activity, but its early-stage scope and highly concentrated contribution history merit consideration before relying on it as a core workstation.
Good fit if
- You want a single desktop home for common developer utilities, API requests, and everyday database access.
- Local processing and the absence of a MyDevTools account or sync service are important to your workflow.
- You use macOS or Linux and are comfortable with an AGPL-3.0 project whose recent work is concentrated among a small number of contributors.
Look elsewhere if
- You need a Windows release today.
- Your database work depends on features such as visual schema design or migration tooling, which the project says it does not provide.
- You need team workspaces, synchronization, or collaboration features.

Overview
MyDevTools is a Tauri v2 desktop application for developers who are tired of juggling single-purpose tool websites and apps. It bundles more than 80 utilities with an API client and SQL, MongoDB, and Redis clients, so formatting, conversion, debugging, database work, and productivity tasks can happen from one searchable workspace.
The app is designed to run locally without an account or a MyDevTools server. Its published builds are for macOS and Linux; Windows builds are not currently provided. Some tools, such as API requests, database connections, DNS lookups, and webhooks, still use the network to reach destinations you choose.
Key Features
- A searchable collection of formatters, validators, converters, generators, and media utilities.
- An HTTP API client with collections, environments, authentication, gRPC, and a mock server.
- Native Rust database clients for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis, plus S3 storage management.
- Local notes, snippets, tasks, bookmarks, and other productivity tools.
- SQLCipher-backed local storage and locally encrypted credentials and secrets.
- A Tauri v2 shell with a Next.js, React, and TypeScript interface.
- Dark and light modes and support for 27 app languages.
Use Cases
- Developers who regularly format JSON, inspect regexes, convert data, or generate identifiers can replace a collection of browser tabs with one desktop app.
- API developers can build and test HTTP or gRPC requests locally, including requests that browser-based clients may restrict through CORS.
- Developers doing routine database work can connect to PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis without switching to a separate client for each system.
- Privacy-conscious users can keep notes, snippets, tool data, and credentials in local storage rather than sending them to a MyDevTools service.

Getting Started
Download the latest macOS or Linux build from the GitHub releases page. To build from source, install Node.js, pnpm, and Rust, then run:
git clone https://github.com/mydevtools-tech/mydevtools.git
cd mydevtools
pnpm install
See the README for platform-specific installation and build commands.
Alternatives
- apiark: ApiArk focuses on organizing and testing API requests across protocols, while MyDevTools also bundles general utilities and SQL, MongoDB, and Redis clients.

Considerations
The project is active, with regular commits and releases, but remains early in its lifecycle. Most of the code comes from one person, despite contributions from others, so teams should account for contributor concentration when assessing long-term maintenance. The measured data shows limited issue closure activity, while pull requests have been merged recently.
The desktop app is local-first, not fully offline in every workflow: network-dependent tools connect to services and hosts you configure, and the README describes optional anonymous usage statistics that are off by default. The README also identifies no Windows build, no team features or sync, and no visual schema designer or migration tooling. The repository is licensed under AGPL-3.0, so review its obligations before incorporating or distributing modified versions.
